Lead Information Assurance (IA) Network Engineer / Systems Administrator
Position Overview
The Lead Information Assurance (IA) Network Engineer / Systems Administrator provides expert-level network engineering and system administration support to USNAVSOUTH/FOURTHFLT. The role focuses primarily on network engineering with secondary responsibilities in system administration for mission-critical C4I systems. The engineer ensures compliance with DoD Information Assurance (IA), Computer Network Defense (CND), and cybersecurity standards while maintaining, securing, and optimizing enterprise IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
The Contractor shall:
Provide on-site IA network engineering and system administration support from the designated IA space during normal duty hours (0730–1600).
Operate, secure, maintain, and repair network infrastructure in compliance with DoD guidance, including:
Switches, routers, firewall, VTC systems, servers, and TACLANE encryptors.
Support DoD C4I systems, JWICS, CENTRIXS, and additional networks as required.
Serve as the lead Network Engineer; perform system administrator duties as needed for C4I systems such as ENMS Lite, DCGS-N (SIPR and JWICS), ADSI, GCCS-J, Radiant Mercury (RADMERC), and VTC systems.
Conduct vulnerability scans and patches; document and submit reports in accordance with DoD IA and CND standards.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Design and implement secure network architectures per DoD guidance.
Coordinate, document, and implement changes to network configuration and topology.
Configure switches and routers, monitor performance, conduct diagnostics, analyze traffic patterns, and apply security upgrades.
Install, configure, and maintain systems software and hardware; manage application version control and system documentation.
Optimize system and network performance, troubleshoot failures, and recover services.
Apply vendor-supplied software modifications while implementing federal security standards.
Maintain accountability for IT assets assigned to USNAVSOUTH/FOURTHFLT.
Provide customer support, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure mission continuity with minimal disruption.
Engineer and install network infrastructure, support equipment reallocations, and provide PC and IT hardware maintenance.
Perform additional related network engineering/system administration duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Minimum 8 years of extensive experience in Information Assurance, network engineering, or related IT areas.
Proven expertise supporting DoD networks and mission systems.
Hands-on experience with:
Cisco ASA 5515-x firewall with IPS.
Cisco routers, switches (configuration, backup, restore).
Cisco VTC configuration and operation.
TACLANE encryptors.
Splunk, ACAS, Wireshark, VMware, MS Visio, ENMS Lite (BMC).
C4I systems (ENMS Lite, DCGS-N, ADSI, GCCS-J, RADMERC).
Certifications
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (minimum), including one of the following: GSEC, Network+ CE, Security+ CE, SSCP.
Computing Environment (CE) certifications for supported systems.
NSA/CNSS 4011 Certified – Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) Professional.
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Routing & Switching.
Cisco Certified Network Associate – Security (CCNA-S).
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
CompTIA Security+.
Additional Requirements
Familiarity with ACAS, Wireshark, VMware, Splunk, and other IA/CND tools.
Ability to document network/system configurations, develop SOPs, and generate IA compliance reports.
Strong communication skills with the ability to advise, train, and support end-users in high-tempo environments.
